Office Suites – Zoho Office Suite

zoho_logo Today we’re going to take a look at the Zoho Office Suite, another free online alternative to Microsoft Office.

In addition to the standard office components: word processing, spreadsheet and presentation, Zoho offers a wealth of other online applications.  Some aimed at providing the services to run your business.

Some of the business-oriented applications have premium (paid) levels for more users or more projects. Currently these are Zoho Project, Zoho CRM, Zoho Invoice and Zoho People.

The applications themselves are very feature-rich and can be compared favorably to commercial desktop applications doing the same core function.

It can’t be overemphasized the convenience of having these applications available online which doesn’t require any installation, backing up, is available at home and at work and can be used on any computer with Internet and a browser.  And is free.

Zoho applications, like Google Docs, takes advantage of Google Gears which allow them to work when offline.  Zoho also offers a plug-in to Microsoft Word and Excel that allow them to work together seamlessly.  This can be convenient if you have Microsoft Office at work but don’t want it at home.

All-in-all, Zoho is a very good deal and a great way to have access to online applications to help you be productive at the office and at home.
