This idea started with a PopularMechanics.com story called “100 Skills Every Man Should Know”.  Okay, no one was happy with the “Man” part and it was written about variously and corrected to “100 Skills Every Person Should Know”. Now the original list included workshop skills like master a sandblaster – not necessarily an urban apartment-dweller’s skill, so lifehacker.com recast it as “One Hundred DIY Skills Everyone Should Have” and polled their readers over the weekend to see how they measured up. Below are the results.  Seems like ironing a shirt is a fairly ubiquitous skill but we’ve forgotten what we knew in scouts and tying a bowline is a bit of a mystery.
